Tom Jamming with Maestro Monty Alexander at Ronnie Scotts, London

'I really enjoy teaching Jazz Piano in a one-to-one setting, it's fun to tailor lessons to suit students, covering specific topics or more structured sessions with exercises and materials that I've developed from my own playing experience. Regardless of level or ability it's important that students learn at a pace which is comfortable for them. Over the last 7 years, I've taught students all ages from Beginner to Advanced level, tackling the Basics of Jazz Piano as well as more specific in depth subjects - the great thing is, you never stop learning!, as improvisors we're always discovering new ways to think about things and as a teacher I'm always trying to find ways to explain things in the clearest way possible'.

'My experience performing live regularly, accompanying various top UK jazz artists as well as leading my own trio, has equipped me with lots of tricks and I'm eager to share this knowledge with my students. I've developed various exercises and lessons designed for all aspects of Jazz Piano playing, whether it's solo piano, duo or trio. My students have access to these materials - so don't miss out on all the good stuff! Many of these materials adopt a compositional approach to Improvisation which provides lots of ideas to help students develop exercises which are useful to them.'

Tom has been providing private tuition for the last 7 years both online and in student homes, it's a great time to start developing your skills as a Jazz Pianist and Improvisor! He provides hourly sessions as well as intensive sessions (2 hours or more) for more advanced students - if you'd like to arrange a taster lesson please get into contact via email - info@tombergejazzpianolessons.co.uk
